AEN’s Ursula Kazarian presents at Armenian Bar Association conference
AEN’s President and Founder, Ursula Kazarian, presented at the Armenian Bar Association’s annual conference, at the “Human Rights, Civil Liberties, and Social Movements in Armenia” panel, which took place on May 19, 2012 in Glendale, California. Other presenters included Edik Baghdasaryan, Editor-in-Chief of Hetq Online Magazine, and Sara Anjargolian, Attorney & Documentarian. The panel was moderated by Antranig Kasbarian, Executive Director of the Tufenkian Foundation.
Ursula would like to amend a few of the figures used in her presentation, which were taken from research documents which were presented in inconsistent measurement systems and therefore improperly labeled in the PowerPoint presentation. Please note:
The allocated land for the Teghut mining operation is 3,684 acres (roughly 1500 hectares).
Exploitation of the mine will produce about 500 million tons of tailings and 600 million tons of various other wastes, to be dumped in the gorge of Duqanadzor River.
